Yeah. There is nothing wrong with this fandom, nothing at all.
To that anon - Star Trek is SET in the 23rd century where race may or may not matter. However, it does not exist within a vacuum, and right now we are in the 21st century where racism and whitewashing is a legitimate and massive issue. It doesn't matter how great he was, it just matters that again white actors have been favoured over actual POC in POC roles. It's important not to ignore the context in which these films are being shown.

that being said, the original star trek series did exist in a time where race mattered a hell of a lot (see: the episode plato’s stepchildren), so like starrisu is saying, although it may not matter in the 23rd century it matters a lot to the people who are interpreting the material
so I go into the 'star trek into darkness' tag and all I see are people bitching about white washing and how Khan should have been played by a poc and all I can think is DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT STAR TREK TAKES PLACE IN THE 23RD CENTURY WHERE RACE IS NOT EVEN AN ISSUE ANYMORE not even broaching the fact that the Batch's performance as this relatable villain was in fact FANTASTIC.

even though the original khan wasn’t correct but was still a fantastic actor, he was still a poc which is more than can be said for cumberbatch even though benny c did a gr8 job
