I used to have a blog and I posted about how I didn't ship johnlock amongst other random 4am thoughts including why feminism is good, school uniform sucks and why we need to generally stop racial stereotypes. For some reason it showed up in the johnlock tag and I got so much anon hate and people were calling me a racist homophobe so I deleted my blog and started again. I keep trying to apologise to people who reblogged it (because I might have accidentally offended them with the talk CONTINUED
CONTINUED with the talk about race and stereotypes because I’m white and people can get pissy when we try and help and stuff. All I was saying was that we should all stand up and do something about it rather than complaining on the internet, complain to someone who can help and change things. (I’m bad with words sorry))I used to have 300 followers and now I have 20 because I had to create a new blog and stay hidden. I’m guilty of reblogging some Sherlock crap but I was twelve then(two years ago)
that sounds like a really difficult situation, but one thing to consider (based just on this message) is that complaining on the internet IS a very powerful tool, and often the only one people have. how much would you know about feminism if you hadn’t read about it on the internet? how much would you know about what people of colour experience? (also as an aside, i wouldn’t refer to people being invested in how their cause is being represented and interpreted by people it doesn’t apply to personally as being “pissy”.) talking about things online is the fastest and widest reaching tool humanity has EVER had for discussing social issues, and it’s a huge part of why things are happening in leaps and bounds the last few years. people are connecting on issues like they never have been able to before. on the other hand, taking things to figures of authority (actions like protests, petitions, letters etc) takes up a lot of resources (time, energy, money) which people often just don’t have. also, not everyone who talks about this is even trying to be an activist… people should have the freedom to talk about issues that effect their lives in their own space (eg; blogs) without being blamed for not taking more action.
you’re young, and i don’t think it’s fair for anyone to dogpile on you for having views and expressing them, (and i think it was very mature of you to try to apologise to people involved) but in future try to think about the different sides of an issue and maybe do some googling for articles written by people with different views to yours before making decisions about how to respond to this kind of stuff? it helps to be open to be changing your perspective on issues to truly understand them.
sorry if this is kind of preachy, and sorry again that you got dogpiled on by people, that’s a really hard thing to go through. i really hope you’re able to create a safe space on your new blog and enjoy your tumblr experience more in future
I’m always a huge fan of these posts where the johnlock fandom can flip out about how hard it is for John to actually express his feelings to people and how MAGICAL IT IS for him to say sherlock is the bestest man he’s ever known WHATEVER.
But then they turn around and use that as justification for why he doesn’t love Mary. Because he won’t just say it all the time even though, if they’ve been watching the show like everyone else, they know he isn’t all that great at expressing his feeling and even SAYS THAT.
I can't decide what pisses me off more: the fangirls that bitch about what a manipulating bitch Mary is and then proceed to ship fucking Johnlock or the ones posting about how they hope something horrible happens to baby Watson, or that Mary faked her pregnancy anyway.
hey, don't want to sound ignorant or anything, but could you please tell me everything that;s wrong with martin freeman? cause i know he says extremely bigoted and harmful things often but i don't really know any details and i just don;t like being uninformed :p great job on the blog btw, wish people submitted things more often tho
idk if this is everything but this is what i could find off the top of my head (other than the lucy liu thing you mentioned in your other ask)
racism, islamophobia, homophobia & slurs abound in this interview, & this terrible rape joke here… basically hes… awful……..
(also as an aside to anyone else; if people need this kinda info it is 100x easier for us if you ask off anon so we can answer privately :) also google is yr friend there are lists around that are Much better organised than anything we can do)
oh cool they left it blank for people to fill in hmm lets see
- hedgehog jokes
- anderson stop talking you lower the iq of the whole street jokes
- "i’m not a psychopath, i’m a high-functioning sociopath" shoved in your face everywhere you go
- WWII nazi aus
- people who shove the women to the side
- people who are like “if you don’t ship johnlock why are you even in the fandom??”
- all of the misplaced moffat love
- anyone who upholds the queerbaiting in the show
- people who defend the shitty things martin freeman and benny c have done
- etc. etc.
Do the mods have personal blogs I can folloe them on? :)
Both gifs were added by the same person btw. I’m pretty sure that’s not what the op meant.
Is this blog still active? Do you need mods?
we’re fine on the mod front, the inactivity is because we haven’t been getting submissions recently. (which personally i take as there being less drama than there used to be) (hopefully)
if you wanna see more from the blog though, feel free to submit stuff!
im drawing the designs now no one in the sherlock fandom will ever be able to stop my path of glory
please submit them to this blog or to my (mod c’s) personal blog when you’re done i honest to god want to see these i love aus like this
